For the past few Sundays we
have focused on the critical importance for believers to
be clothed in God’s armor. We have
learned how to sink into that armor, so that it fits
perfectly. Now we learn to put on the shoes of the
gospel of peace. How
important is this? Can you imagine having your body
covered in armor, but your feet are exposed to injury?
Leaving our feet
exposed weakens us. What better way is there to protect
our vulnerable feet than to cover them with the
preparation of the
gospel of peace? God does not stop there. He gives us
even greater protection, defense and weapons of offense.
We are now
called to put on the helmet of salvation, His shield of
faith and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of
God. Properly
covered in God’s armor, how can we fail? God enables us
to have victory over our enemies, His enemies.
