In Romans 7, Paul
delivers God’s Word in very clear language so that we
cannot be mistaken about the relationship
that God expects to have with us. He uses the example of
marriage. We cannot be married to two people at the same
time
and expect to gain the benefits that only the one
perfect marital partner can give. As Christians, we are
married to God and
to Him only. He expects us to be faithful to Him only.
Unfortunately, some of us commit adultery by trying to
be married to God
and to the world and its foolishness. When we commit
adultery we give up all of the blessings, the benefits,
and the love of our
Father through Jesus Christ, we actually give up the
promise of eternal life in the Lord, for death that
comes by us committing
adultery with the world. Choose the Lord and stop the
adultery with the world. Choose life and not death. |
