| The Jewish leaders during the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ were determined to challenge Him and the healing and
the salvation that He brings to all people. They constantly follow Him, attempting to catch Him in some error, as they continue to persecute Him and His followers. They challenge
Him on His teachings of God’s Word even though it is obvious that they do not know, nor do they follow God’s word. It is the sabbath day and in the synagogue they actually
challenge Jesus on whether it is lawful to heal a man whose hand has been withered for 40 years. Jesus has the power to heal this man and will do it whether it is the sabbath or not,
because Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Can you imagine denying healing and salvation to anyone who is created in God’s image and likeness just because of the day of the week? There
are many today that have these legalistic tendencies and actually deny God’s truth. We must understand that Jesus by the direction of our Heavenly Father and the work of the Holy
Spirit, can do all that He wills, whenever He will, because He is Lord of all. |
