Why did Jesus cry out on
the cross asking why His heavenly Father had forsaken
Him? Was it the immense pain and the
suffering that He was experiencing that made Him cry
out? From before the time that He came to earth with the
mission to set
us free, Jesus knew what He would endure. Yet in the
Garden of Gethsemane, the human side became reluctant to
go through
such suffering that the heavenly side of Him already
knew and accepted. He accepts the Father’s perfect will.
The most painful
part of this experience was the weight and ugliness of
all our sins that He bore, actually changing His
relationship with His good
and loving Father for this one goal –to save all of
mankind from sin. However, in the Garden of Gethsemane,
His Father equipped
Him for this very special and important assignment.
Jesus achieved the Father’s goal of salvation and He
said, “It is finished”
and committed His Spirit into His Father’s hands. The
Father has always been right there for His Son as He is
always there for
each of us. The Father, His Son, and His Spirit never
leave us nor forsake us. |
