As Jesus completes His
final journey to the cross, there are many things
occurring that impact Him and the task that
He must complete for His Father and for us. Jesus never
loses His focus. Everything that He does is directed to
our salvation,
saving us from sin and death and re-establishing our
relationship to God. Until this time, the people had to
make blood
sacrifices to gain forgiveness of their sins. However,
through Jesus Christ, the Father provides one sacrifice
for all of
humankind to cover and cleanse us from all sins, for all
time. In John 15, Jesus reminds us that He is the true
vine and that
we are the branches that must emanate from Him. If
indeed we are His branches then we must bear fruit as He
does. The
Holy Father is the husbandman who will take care of the
branches (us), cultivate the “soil” around us (the
world), and will
remove anything that contaminates us and keeps us from
bearing fruit. |
