Luke 24:30-35 (Part3) |
On the road to Emmaus just days after the
crucifixion, what were Jesus’ disciples talking about?
They were consumed by
their interpretation of the events, their feelings. They
were so preoccupied with their own limited perspectives
of things that
they did not even realize that they had been joined by
the risen Jesus on their journey. They were amazed that
He too was
not as consumed, as they were, with all of the bad news
of the week’s events. They were not focused on all of
the things that
He had taught them in the days, weeks, and years that
they had been with Him.
How much are we like these disciples? We let the
negative events of life and the evil acts of people
steal our joy. Our joy
comes from knowing Jesus and walking with Jesus and
knowing that His promises to us are true! One more of
His greatest
promises is that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
How can we forget such powerful messages and ignore His
presence?
We focus too much on ourselves, leaning on our own
understanding. Instead, let us lean on Jesus and the
promises that He
has made to us, because they are true and real. Let us
be God-centered with our thoughts, solutions, behaviors,
our lives!
