How careful are we in the choice of our words when we are talking to one another? Do we speak to people who we
know and those who we do not know with kind and, truthful and supportive words? Or do we just let everything that is troubling to us about the person flow over our tongues and
out of our mouths? Some of the most troubling things to hear and observe are human beings speaking to other human beings with great dishonor and disrespect about any number of
things and topics. To hear some people who speak to loved ones and strangers, we know that this must trouble God greatly.
Imagine how our Holy Father must feel when
He sees and hears His children, who He created in His own image, calling each other ungodly names, and treating each other with contempt. Well, you do not have to wonder about this,
because Jesus clearly tells us that this speech and behavior are dishonoring in the eyes of God and there are consequences for those who would speak to and treat others in dishonoring
and vulgar ways. Jesus clearly states that calling our brothers and sisters certain names will send us straight to hell. |
