| All around us there are many signs of the pressures of the world to do what pleases us the most. Many times these
pressures involve others and there walk in the Lord. God’s word includes many clear directions to live a life that honors Him and ourselves as His children. One of His
strongest commands is for none of His children to be involved in adultery. There are so many temptations that lead men and women into this deadly sin for which the punishment is
death. Most of us only see the sin of adultery among men and women who are unfaithful to their spouses. We often forget that we who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior are
actually the Bride of Christ. When we are unfaithful to our God, we are playing the harlots and adulterers with other gods. We are betraying our relationship with a loving, merciful,
and gracious God. We are indeed committing adultery and the penalty is death! Why would anyone choose another god? |
