Jesus uses powerful examples of what the kingdom of God is and how it begins in believers. When we come to Jesus
Christ and give our lives to God, His Spirit comes to live in each of us. Our faith and our submission to Him begins like a small seed – a mustard seed. The mustard seed
is the smallest of all garden seeds, but when it is nurtured and cared for, it will grow to be a massive tree, the largest of all trees. It then can provide shelter, security, and
nourishment to all creatures that will come to it. This is truly what the Holy Spirit does in us as believers who are committed to our God and His holy purposes as the kingdom of God
grows. Jesus then uses the example of leavening as an example of how our faith and commitment to God grows and expands through the Holy Spirit in each of us and our obedience to God.
This too assures that the kingdom of God grows through His faithful believers for His holy purposes. |
