Sermon Title :
  Onward through Samaria!
Praise and Worship
Sermon

We continue to observe Jesus in His earthly ministry and to learn from Him. Jesus purposed to teach us how to live as believers of Christ and citizens of the kingdom of God. The Pharisees, who thought of themselves as perfect representatives of the Mosaic law and Talmud, were closely watching Jesus. They noticed the increase of many people who listened to His teachings, believed, and were baptized by His disciples.

Jesus determines that it was time to go to Galilee, as the Father leads Him. Jesus goes to Galilee by way of Samaria. His decision to travel through Samaria is truly significant, because none of the Jewish leaders, the Pharisees, would ever travel to Samaria. Setting foot in Samaria would make them unclean. So, what is Jesus up to? Why does He choose to intentionally go to Samaria? Who are these Samaritans who are so greatly disdained and hated by the Pharisees, but loved by God?
