Jesus, our Lord and the Son of God, our Father, has given us some very specific and important directions on prayer.
As Christians, we know that our daily communication with our Father is through prayer. To Whom we pray and how we pray is central to our relationship with God the Father, God
the Son and God the Holy Ghost. So why would a believer take a nonchalant and even a detached attitude when communicating with God?
God loves us and provides for us. Our joy, our peace and our eternity are all centered in Him. Nothing in our lives
nor in the world can happen without Him and His intervention. When we pray to Him, He hears us and draws near to us to answer our prayers. So, Jesus makes it clear to all believers
how we must pray to our Father. His first directions are to avoid showcasing our prayers to others in efforts to promote ourselves. We are to pray unceasingly to our loving Father
expressing our love, our thankfulness and for those things that concern us, in private, and without “vain repetition.” |
