|
When we run from God and bow before our
manmade gods, God is not pleased. He will deal with us in His
wrath, breaking disobedient spirit. It is then that many of us will come to our
senses and return to God, repenting of our sins and desiring His
forgiveness. If we are truly repentant and restored in God, we
will not only seek His face, we will chase after God to receive
His peace,
His joy, His righteousness and His blessings. |

The rejection of
Israel is pictured by the names of Hosea's three children as
seen below: (Ref: Believer's Bible Commentary)
- Jezreel (meaning- "God will Scatter")= an indication of
what the Lord was about to do to the nation of Israel.
The Assyrian army would break the power of Israel in the
Valley of Jezreel.
- Lo-Ruhamah - (meaning - "not
pitied") = This signified that Israel would no
longer be pitied but would be sent into captivity, while
Judah would be spared from the assaults of the Assyrians.
- Lo-Ammi - (meaning "Not My people") = God no longer
recognized Israel as His own.

Levites being priest
were not allocated land, except a number of cities located
within the territories of the other tribes.
(Joshua 14:3). Jacob elevated the descendants of Ephraim and
Manasseh (the two sons of Joseph by his Egyptian wife Asenath)
(Genesis 41:50) to the status of full tribes in their own right,
replacing the Tribe of Joseph (Joshua 14:4). |
Israel was divided during the reign of Rehoboam (son of Solomon
960s BCE). Israel (Northern Kingdom) rejected Rehoboam as their
king. Ten tribes formed the
Northern Kingdom: the tribes of Reuben, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan,
Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim,
Simeon and Manasseh. In addition, some
members of Tribe of Levi, who had no land allocation, were found
in the Northern Kingdom. The Tribes of Judah and Benjamin
remained loyal to Rehoboam, and formed the Kingdom of Judah (or
Southern Kingdom). Members of the Tribe of Levi, and the remnant
of the Tribe of Simeon was also part of the Southern Kingdom. |
