What does
God expect of His children? God wants us to be fully
faithful to Him. Being God's children requires that we
are faithful
to God 24 hours/day and 7 days/ every week. Our
faithfulness requires a strong foundation in Jesus
Christ and furnishing
our
temples/our houses with the tools and furniture God
gives to us, such as love, joy, and peace. We want His
Spirit to reign
in our
temples.
We do not want to be like the people of Ephraim and
Judah in Hosea's time. They in their faithfulness to God
were like the
morning cloud and the morning dew that would evaporate
with the heat of the day. Their faithfulness was like
the seeds that
Jesus
spoke of that fell among the stones and thorns and
withered or were choked off by the world and
persecution. They
allowed God's
word to be choked out of them instead of growing in His
word. Let your faithfulness grow in your full-service to
God and to His
people. Do not be like the morning cloud and morning dew
that quickly vanish in the heat of the day, in the heat
of the world's challenges |

Levites being priest
were not allocated land, except a number of cities located
within the territories of the other tribes.
(Joshua 14:3). Jacob elevated the descendants of Ephraim and
Manasseh (the two sons of Joseph by his Egyptian wife Asenath)
(Genesis 41:50) to the status of full tribes in their own right,
replacing the Tribe of Joseph (Joshua 14:4). |
Israel was divided during the reign of Rehoboam (son of Solomon
960s BCE). Israel (Northern Kingdom) rejected Rehoboam as their
king. Ten tribes formed the
Northern Kingdom: the tribes of Reuben, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan,
Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim,
Simeon and Manasseh. In addition, some
members of Tribe of Levi, who had no land allocation, were found
in the Northern Kingdom. The Tribes of Judah and Benjamin
remained loyal to Rehoboam, and formed the Kingdom of Judah (or
Southern Kingdom). Members of the Tribe of Levi, and the remnant
of the Tribe of Simeon was also part of the Southern Kingdom. |
