The Apostle Paul urges believers in Jesus Christ to
put away our past sinful behaviors and to walk in the
new relationship
that we have with the Lord. We must put away all
unrighteousness and vanity because we are no longer
products of this sinful
world. We are new and forgiven creatures in Christ and
we are especially of the one body, one family, in Jesus
Christ, which
means that we also have new and right relationships with
each other in the Body of Christ. Put away all
bitterness, anger,
backbiting, gossiping, lying, and other sinful behavior
as we interact with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are called to
walk and communicate in all truth as we interact with
God and our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are
required to be kind
to fellow believers, forgiving each other as God has
forgiven us. To do otherwise is to grieve or vex the
Holy Spirit! To grieve
the Holy Spirit is to grieve God. Remember that the Holy
Spirit lives inside of the believer. So to vex the Holy
Spirit can only
bring harm to oneself. As Christians, we cannot fulfill
God’s will and work without the Holy Spirit.
