Forgetfulness can have dire
consequences! God had delivered Israel from all kinds of
trials and challenges and delivered them
into the Promised Land. He delivered them and expected
them to be His people. Instead His people forgot Him;
they did not
worship Him, but false gods. They did not teach their
children all that He had done for them, so the children
did not know God.
God became angry and punished the northern kingdom and
warned the southern kingdom of His coming wrath if they
did not
seek the Lord.
Today, many Christians are forgetting God and what He
does and has done to deliver us from sin, and the evils
and
persecutions of this world. When we forget God's
goodness and grace in our lives, are we doomed to
experience God's wrath too? |

were not allocated land, except a number of cities located
within the territories of the other tribes.
(Joshua 14:3). Jacob elevated the descendants of Ephraim and
Manasseh (the two sons of Joseph by his Egyptian wife Asenath)
(Genesis 41:50) to the status of full tribes in their own right,
replacing the Tribe of Joseph (Joshua 14:4). |
Israel was divided during the reign of Rehoboam (son of Solomon
960s BCE). Israel (Northern Kingdom) rejected Rehoboam as their
king. Ten tribes formed the
Northern Kingdom: the tribes of Reuben, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan,
Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim,
Simeon and Manasseh. In addition, some
members of Tribe of Levi, who had no land allocation, were found
in the Northern Kingdom. The Tribes of Judah and Benjamin
remained loyal to Rehoboam, and formed the Kingdom of Judah (or
Southern Kingdom). Members of the Tribe of Levi, and the remnant
of the Tribe of Simeon was also part of the Southern Kingdom. |
