The Apostle Paul in Romans 3:
19-23 continues to build his case for the people of
Rome. He is teaching them that they
must go beyond “the law” (Mosaic Law) to receive the
gift of God’s atonement and grace. The law cannot save
us. Living a
“good” life cannot save us. The law only gives us
limitations and exposes sin in us. The law cannot give
us righteousness. If the
law could save us, God would not have given His only
begotten Son as the sacrifice to atone for our sins.
Only Jesus’ death
and resurrection saves and cleanses us. God through the
faith that He has given to each believer, requires us to
surrender to
Him. God requires us to act on this faith and not the
law, which no human being can fully keep.
