| As Jesus prepares His disciples for His ministry, He proclaims the condition of the people. These are people of God’s creation, most of
whom have an extraordinarily strong history with God, but they are lost. They have not honored God, nor have they followed His directions and law. The leaders of the people have failed the people; they have
failed God. Jesus must prepare and make the way back to God for these people. This is the purpose of His earthly ministry. Jesus must prepare disciples, shepherds, ministers, and pastors for this great work,
leading the lost back to His Father through His teachings and works. The work continues even today. All believers are indeed disciples of Jesus Christ, required to fulfill His great works and purpose. |
