Many people are of the impression that once we say “yes” to Jesus Christ, we are “Christians.” That is not all that Jesus calls us
to, a name change. Jesus is calling us to Him, to be His disciples. Disciple means a learner and an imitator. Jesus calls us to be imitators of Him, learners of Him. He wants everyone of us who have chosen to call
Him Lord and Savior to imitate Him, to do His work and make disciples of others for Him. He has given to each of us the gifts and His power to do His work.
How long
does this take? The disciples were with Jesus for about 3 years during His earthly ministry. He gave them all power to minister to the people. As Jesus prepares for His death, He is still teaching them, and they are
still learning from Him. Jesus has so much to teach us as we grow to be imitators of Him and to fulfill His holy will. |
