In John 5, we learn of a man who for 38 years would
be at a pool to receive healing for his withered
impotent body. We
know that he could not stand or walk, but daily he would
be at the pool, waiting for the Lord’s angel to come
down and
trouble the waters so that he could be healed. No one
knew when the angel would come but he would make his way
there
and wait. He never could get into the pool soon enough,
because others would enter before him. That did not stop
him,
because he knew and expected that God would heal him.
His expectations, his faithfulness and his determination
eventually
are rewarded by God. One day when he was waiting at the
pool, the “Angel of the Lord,” Jesus Christ, Himself met
this man
at the pool and healed him.
What are you expecting of the Lord? What are you
willing to go through to receive it? Are you faithful
and determined to
have your needs met by the “Angel of the Lord,” Jesus
Christ? Are your expectations based on God’s promises
and His will?
So much depends on our expectations, our faithfulness,
and our determination to receive the Lord’s promises for
our lives and
for Him to be manifested in us.
