At this time of the year, we give praise and honor to our God for how He came to save us, His goal. However, we seldom look at Joseph,
a “just man.” When Mary was found to be pregnant, she and Joseph were not yet married. In Jewish custom, such a woman was to be stoned. Joseph loved Mary and tried to find a way to save
Mary from such a fate. Then God sent His angel to Joseph to let Joseph know that Mary had been impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Mary was a virgin chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah who would save
God’s people. If Joseph had been offended, gave up his goal and acted hastily to put Mary away, what would have been the outcome? Instead he focused on saving the woman that he loved and wanted to
marry. He was focused on His goal which was also God’s goal.
What goal or goals have God given to you? Are your eyes focused on those goals and depending on God to help bring those goals to reality?
