We have been introduced to the call to and responsibilities of discipleship by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We witness the
work of His disciples throughout the ages. Today, Jesus calls us to be His disciples. Like the original 12 disciples, Jesus expects all of us who believe in Him to trust in God and follow the
leadings of the Holy Spirit as we fulfill His call to discipleship. Being disciples of Jesus Christ means that we are learners and imitators of Jesus. He calls us and provides us with all that
we need to do His holy will. Many Christians may struggle with this call because the call to discipleship requires changed minds and changed hearts dedicated to following all that Christ calls us
to do in bringing the unsaved to Him. We must be more than Christians in name. We must have the changed minds to use the tools and the powers given to us by Christ for His holy work. We must joyfully
accept the call to discipleship as our lifelong work. This means more than carrying the name of “Christian." |
