When God makes a promise, be
sure that He will keep it. Perhaps if you have not
experienced this, it is because you have
not totally submitted to Him. The scriptures in Luke
2:21-40 reminds us of those who submitted to God and how
God kept His
promise to them. On the eighth day after His birth
Joseph took Mary and her baby to the temple for their
purification, the
naming of the baby, and His circumcision. All that they
would do that day, the eighth day, was already set by
God in His laws
for Israel centuries before. That day Christ was given
the name of Jesus as the angel had proclaimed even
before He was
conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit.
It is at the temple on that eighth day that we meet
Simeon and Anna, two wonderful people who had longed to
see the
Savior before they died and were promised by God that
they would see Him. God put everything in motion so that
His promises
would be realized by these faithful saints. He put
everything together for this wondrous eighth day to
fulfill His promises to all
who were in the temple that day, all who were brought to
the temple by Him, and impacted all of mankind.
